As a young student at the Gymnasium in Düsseldorf, he came into early contact with the world art of tomorrow through his art teachers Gerhard Richter and Konrad Fischer.

After studying economics and later as a director of one of the eldest direct banks in Germany, he became a freelance curator and art mediator for contemporary art in 1996.

With the exhibition "Junge Figurative" ((Young Figuratives) in Munich in 2001, Martin Leyer-Pritzkow was one of the first curators worldwide to present a new young painting under this concept. This new pictorial language turns to the figurative, and through its form of expression overlaps the existing delimitations between figurative and abstract painting.

In 2000, Martin Leyer-Pritzkow presented the monography about one of the pioneers of conceptual art. Adolf Bierbrauer presented his works in the context of his first large individual exhibition at the NRW Forum in Düsseldorf. Adolf Bierbrauer, an artist, musician and physician, painted his "hypnotic pictures" in the years 1949 - 1954 according to the descriptions of his patients in the trancelike condition.

With his hypnosis paintings Bierbrauer was one of the first artists in the world to use art as a healing instrument and to make the patient's image ideas to the basis of the creative process. Through this process the recipients themselves became part of the art work. Till today an unique approach for creating a picture.

Adolf Bierbrauer was the neighbor and contemporary of Joseph Beuys in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel. In contrast to Joseph Beuys, A.Bierbrauer worked apart from any contemporary artistic trends.

In 2005, the book "Das Kunstkaufbuch" was written by Martin Leyer-Pritzkow together with an art critic. It is the first book on the quality features of contemporary art. They were the first to have defined quality criteria that can be used to identify exciting art.

In addition to numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, Martin Leyer - Pritzkow was lecturer at the Academia di Belle Arti di Venezia in Venice from 1999 to 2008.

In Düsseldorf, Martin Leyer-Pritzkow manages the eldest off-room for contemporary art in Germany. Here, at irregular intervals, he presents outstanding art works of the artists.

In addition to this Martin Leyer-Pritzkow moderates individual art studio visits for limeted customers only by appointment.

Casually Leyer-Pritzkow communicates in selected media the developments and tendencies of the international contemporary art market.
