Brigitte Stenzel studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She is a master student of Anke Doberauer. She lives and works in Munich and Freising. In her
naturalistic painting she deals with the subject of image, the iconographic interpretation of images, their abundance of interpretation and their transience.
This approach enables her to discuss their content and actuality. This makes it possible to impressively make the painting itself a topic and the
recipient. This is a significant
process, especially today, in a media society characterized by interchangeable images and post-factual reality. Their approach combines the questions which contemporary art, and especially
painting, must address.
What is reality? What is valid beyond time? How do we
fix it? Can I experience and express it aesthetically? Just to raise a few questions already at this point.
Brigitte Stenzel has exhibited internationally. Her works have
been presented in Prague (Czech Republic), in Taipei (Taiwan), but also in the
German-speaking area in Salzburg, in Chemnitz and of course
in Munich.
It was only this year that she created a work for the private altar of
Cardinal Marx in the archiepiscopal palace. Works by her can
be found in the art collection of Hypovereinsbank Munich, as well as in numerous private collections.
