Martin Leyer-Pritzkow is an independent curator for contemporary art in Düsseldorf.
He runs the oldest exhibition space or "Offroom" in Düsseldorf and probably even in Germany.
Martin Leyer-Pritzkow has been exhibiting young and upcoming artists for more than 23 years in his private spaces. In other words, in the rooms in which he lives. He thus invites them to his home. The guests of his exhibitions thus experience young and often museum-like art in a very private atmosphere.
Outside the invitations for selected guests, his exhibitions can only be seen by prior arrangement. Of course you can buy art from him and also buy it on Facebook, instagram or by email.
It is therefore not a gallery or a museum. So something in between and therefore in so called "New German" an "Offroom".
He sees himself as a curator because it is his concern to exhibit his artists internationally and to contribute to the discourse of their works. For example in Miami, Venice, Munich, etc.
As an author, he wrote the first book on the quality characteristics of contemporary art more than 14 years ago.
