Hendrik Krawen, who studied in Düsseldorf in the 80s, lives and works in Berlin.

With his second exhibition in my rooms, entitled “The dawned day Version ll” he shows the further development of a spatial installation composed of paintings, which he showed last year in Berlin in the temporary gallery spaces of the music label Italic. In addition to his paintings, he also integrates pictorial objects and, for the first time, photographs and works by other artists from his studio collection, some of which seem to take on the character of found objects.

Hendrik Krawen is an attentive observer. Among other things, he devotes himself to the themes of cultural change and globalization. Human activities and the associated effects on the environment play a central role for him. 

Through the use of graphic and architectural details or elements, he develops spaces without localizable references that open up new visual levels. However, like a common thread, sometimes more, sometimes less, the theme of togetherness or duality runs through this second version of an exhibition.

The artist has participated in numerous international exhibitions at leading museums and foundations. These include the Berlinische Galerie; Kunsthalle/Kunstverein Düsseldorf; Kunsthalle zu Kiel; Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt; Rocca di Angera, Italy; Palazzo Cavour, Turin; Leopold-HoeschMuseum, Düren.

Many of his works are in renowned international collections, e.g. Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf; Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlung, Munich; Kunsthalle zu Kiel; MAMCS – Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain, Strasbourg and Sammlung Falckenberg, Hamburg.
