Martin Leyer-Pritzkow is an independent curator for contemporary art in Düsseldorf. He runs the oldest exhibition space or “offroom” in Düsseldorf and probably even in Germany.
Martin Leyer-Pritzkow has been exhibiting young and emerging artists for more than 24 years in his private rooms, among others. That is, in the rooms in which he lives. He thusinvites you to his home. So the guests of his exhibitions experience young and often museum art in a very private and relaxed atmosphere.
Outside of the invitations for selected guests, his exhibitions can only be seen by prior arrangement. He neither runs a gallery nor a museum. So something in between and therefore called “Offroom”.
Martin Leyer-Pritzkow sees himself as a curator for contemporary art. It is his concern to exhibit his artists internationally and to contribute to promoting and accompanying the discourse of their works. Thus in Miami, Venice, Munich and many other places.
In addition, he was the first German after Mies van der Rohe to teach at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in Venice for a nine year longer period of time.
As a co-author he wrote the first book about the quality characteristics of contemporary art more than 15 years ago.
